Round 8 – 17/08/2024

This past Saturday, 19 DAC athletes from 5 teams made the journey to St Anne’s Winery in Myrniong for an exciting day of cross country racing. The course saw a last-minute change, much to the relief of many, as it took out the infamous “Big Dipper” climb, which some may have walked up! The start line was in a completely different place compared to the last two years, adding an element of surprise for our runners.

Despite the changes, the weather conditions were near perfect, making the green and undulating course both beautiful and challenging. The slippery and muddy patches added an extra layer of difficulty, but our athletes powered through with determination.

The course itself was a test of endurance, with many runners looking exhausted as they hit the changeover. Yet, our teams showed great spirit and resilience, making the most of the challenging terrain.

Notable Performances:

  • Open Women: Our women’s team put in a stellar performance winning division 3!
  • Open Men: The men’s team faced tough competition but delivered solid performances, coming in 7th out of 14 teams.

While team numbers were a bit lower than usual due to the distance from home, the spirit and camaraderie were as strong as ever.

A special thank you goes out to our helpers—Sue Davey, Lydia Rinaudo, and Joel Denny—who helped the AV team run another smooth competition. Your support is invaluable to the success of these events!

Thank you to all athletes, coaches, and supporters for your hard work and dedication. We look forward to seeing you at the next event!
