Dear Members,
In response to the reintroduction of Stage 3 restrictions by the Victorian Government, Doncaster Athletic Club has immediately suspended all Club operations including all group training sessions at the Tom Kelly Athletics Track. Unfortunately, this means our gym will remain closed for a further six weeks.
The track is still open to the public, however, Manningham Council has the discretion to close the track if gathering limits and social distancing restrictions are not adhered to. If you are a registered DAC member and wish to use the track you will have to work alongside members of the public.
The pavilion, equipment shed and lane restriction gates will remain locked.
The Club has been forced to postpone the AGM & Presentation Night until a later date. An extension of 3 months has been granted by Consumer Affairs Vic. We expect that it may well be conducted as a combined AGM/Presentation night and summer season launch. The organising committee is exploring every possible option to ensure life members and award winners are recognised and the event can be conducted while adhering to gathering limits.
The reintroduction of restrictions has also resulted in Athletics Victoria deciding to cancel the AV All-Schools and AV Youth Road Relays scheduled for Saturday 18th at Sandown. We are still unsure whether there will be any Cross Country events this year and what implications this will have on the summer AVSL competition.
As always, the Committee of DAC remain focused on staying abreast of all changes to restrictions and reacting appropriately in the best interests of the Club members.
Stay fit, stay positive and stay safe.
Best wishes
On behalf of the DAC Committee
Darryl Kilmartin
Secretary and Covid Safety Officer
