Doncaster Newsletter
In the fifth round of Shield competition, Doncaster again came close to the juggernaut which is Diamond Valley in the M40+. Only one other metropolitan team scored better and some of our athletes were considered invitation athletes as they didn’t run the correct distance. Our other teams are performing really well led by our Under 14 Men who continue to record massive scores week after week, our Under 16 Men and Open Men put in admirable performances to hold their positions in their respective ladders while our Under 18 Women and Men will be looking to bounce back at Meadowglen and Yarra Ranges this weekend.

The highlight of the round was our Open Men’s 4x400m team of Conrad Coumaros, Liam Procaccino, Daniel Minz and Tristan Robinson winning their race by 120m and getting within two seconds of equalling the club record which was set almost a year to the day. Other notable performances included:
– Darryl Kilmartin running PBs in the 40+ 800m and 3000m as well as throwing a PB in the Shot Put
– Liam and Caleb McLennan running a PB in the Under 14 and Under 16 800m
– John Curry running a 24 second PB in the 3000m steeple at Williamstown 48 hours after running a PB in the 3000m at the Victorian Milers Club competition
– And Harrison Kerr and Hugh Parrott winning their heats of the 200m at Knox
We are looking forward to seeing as many members as possible this weekend at Meadowglen and Yarra Ranges which will also be a great opportunity for everyone to get one last race in before the Victorian Relay Championships the following week.
