Doncaster 40+ Newsletter
(Edition 63)
Round 2 – 15/10/2022
The 40+ teams again did well this week, with the women doing considerably better. They were second in zone 1, just forty points behind Diamond Valley, while the men were third in the state again.
With competition at Doncaster this week, it was a much improved performance from the club, coming fourth in Premier Division, only one point behind Glenhuntly, who were also competing on their home track. Diamond Valley enjoyed having a closer venue and had a big win. However, with the Geelong Region cancelled, there is the possibility of no AVSL ladder points being awarded. Athletics Victoria will make a decision on this in the coming weeks.
Round 3 is at Knox and has been moved from Aberfeldie to Doncaster due to flood damage. With a second consecutive round of AVSL at our home track, we encourage everyone to enter for this weekend. Further information about Round 3 can be found here. Entries close on Wednesday at midday so make sure you enter asap to avoid missing out!
The 40+ Men’s team was third in the state.

There were some new faces among the record breakers with Deb Garden breaking the W40 800 metres record and David Vaughan the M55 3000 metres. Gerard Brown continued his record-breaking ways for a second week, while Kim Peak continues to improve with age, breaking her own records. David Firth and Campbell McLennan are enjoying being in a new age group!
Records
There were two records set in the 4 x 200 relays. The Women set a new record for the W40 and the men smashed the record for the M50, though Gerald managed to injure his heel in the process.
