Round 10 of the shield competition saw Doncaster coming second to Collingwood, but finishing well ahead of Diamond Valley, which will move us ahead of them on the ladder. The women left Laura to do the heavy lifting and she ran her first 200 metres and increased her scores in the throws, while Kath Gawthorn broke her record in the shot put.
Campbell McLennan led from the front, doing six events. The four he scored points for added to 1601, with Graham Ford scoring 1552. Darryl Kilmartin also scored over 1000 points with Paul and Will not far off after only competing in two events. Will, Graham and Campbell all broke records with Darryl setting a new one.
So far, all the women have qualified for the final in multiple events and ten men: Campbell, Darryl, David, Graham, John, Leighton, Paul, Peter, Scott and Will. Of these Campbell, Darryl, David and Graham have qualified for four or more events. Mark still needs one more competition to qualify. Andy, Rod, Michael and Nicholas need another two.
John Curry enjoyed having some company in the 5000 metres, with Rod De Highden having his second hit out and planning to be there for the finals, and Leighton having his first track run, having qualified for the finals in the throws.
Competition returns to Doncaster after the long weekend, so we will be looking for a big turnup.
