AVSL Round 7 – 17/12/2022
Christmas is coming and with Christmas parties aplenty, Doncaster Little Aths with their Open Day and large distances for athletes to travel last weekend, numbers were down and we finished near the bottom, though the over age teams did better than many of the younger ones. Having finished midfield last round, there were no men in the under 20 or under 14 competition this week, and many age groups were struggling. Paul Mierisch was the athlete of the day smashing the 12 second barrier for the first time and breaking the club M40 record he set three years ago. He also broke his high jump record, while David Vaughan continued his fine form in the 800 metres.
Heading into the Christmas/New Year break, we have dropped to seventh in the Premier Division ladder. With three rounds left until the two weeks of finals, we will need to ensure we have strong attendance at the remaining rounds, as these will be crucial in deciding whether we will contest the promotion or relegation playoff at the finals.
The next round of AVSL is being held at Doncaster and Duncan MacKinnon on Saturday 21st of January. This will also be the round where we will use our Powerplay, doubling our ladder points yield. Entries are not due to open until 5pm on Wednesday 11th of January. we strongly encourage everyone to enter in at least two to three events to give us every possible chance of maximising our score.
We are also filming a Promotional Video of the club on the 21st Jan at Doncaster so please enter events at Doncaster and invite your cheer squad!
