Doncaster had another successful day at the Victorian Relay Championships on Saturday, winning five gold, two silver and one bronze medal, improving on last year’s tally of three gold, one silver and four bronze!
The Under 14 Men won both the 4 x 100 and the 4 x 400, breaking the club record in both events with the 4×100 record having stood for thirty one years and the 4×400 record improved by six seconds from last year’s record performances. The Men’s over 40 team did the same and the Women’s Open 4 x 800 team was also successful. There were silver medals for the Men’s over 50 4 x 1500 and the Women’s Open Medley while our Under 18 Women won Bronze in the 4×800.
It’s an exciting time for Doncaster with our junior teams being very competitive, our Open Men and Women contesting their 4x400m finals at Zatopek on Saturday 14th of December at Box Hill and looking further ahead to Shield Final in February the club is in a strong position.
Save the date! Christmas Party & Club Handicap Event
We invite all members and their families to our annual Christmas Party at the Tom Kelly Athletics Track on Tuesday 19th of December.
We will also be holding our handicap events: The Peter Ruff 100m Handicap (Men & Women), Ivan Harding 800m Handicap (Men), Tom Kelly Memorial 800m Handicap (Women) and the Adam Robertson Javelin Handicap (Men & Women)
We ask athletes to start arriving at the track from 5:30pm with an aim to start the handicap events at 6pm. The club will be putting on a BBQ from around 6:40pm, Men are asked to bring a salad and Women please bring a dessert.
After dinner we will hold our games: Egg toss, three legged race and the highly competitive musical chairs!
Please come along for what is always an exciting and entertaining evening of racing, games and fun!
