In the sixth round of Shield competition, Doncaster women’s Under 18 team had another narrow win over Diamond Valley. The under 20 Women had their best performance for the season and the women’s open team managed to finish in second place for the first time. The men’s under 14 continues to dominate while the Open, 40+ and Under 16 Men are both maintaining their positions in their respective ladders.

This week’s stand out performance came from Michael Gallagher in the Open Men’s 800m, leading the first lap he dropped down to fourth with 250m to go before winding back the clock with a massive burst of speed, charging into a 4m headwind ‘Gags’ flew back into the lead then opened up a 10m gap to second place and held his form to win his first race back for the season.

Other notable performances included:

–          Alana Green clearing 3.55m in her return to Pole Vault after an extended injury layoff

–          Darryl Kilmartin claiming his second PB in a row in the 40+ 800m

–          Liam McLennan breaking 2:30 for the first time in the Under 14 800m

–          And Haimish Lazaro winning his heat of the Open Men’s 1500m by 22 seconds

This weekend DAC will be contesting the Victorian Relay Championships at Box Hill where we have teams entered across all age groups and based on previous years we are looking at having another successful day of competition. Interclub will resume the week after on Saturday 1st of December at Frankston and the newly redeveloped Keilor Park athletics track.
