The fourth leg of the Australian Athletics Tour headed to Perth for the Jandakot City Track Classic. Seventeen-year-old Nina Kennedy (WA) produced the highlight of the evening soaring to an astounding 4.59m in the Pole Vault. Kennedy now boasts the highest jump ever by an under 20 athlete outdoors, moreover the performance exceeded the World Championships qualifier. The Doncaster Athletics Club was represented by two athletes; Abbey De la Motte and Katherine Katsanevakis.
With both athletes contesting the 800 meters, it was sure to be a sizzling race. World Junior representative De la Motte finished strongly to record a personal best of 2:05.82 seconds and claimed third place. Glasgow 2014 representative Katsanevakis did the tough task of leading the field through 400 meters, she faded to fourth place in a commendable time of 2:06.13. National Champion Brittany McGowan (QLD) ran away with the victory in 2:05.05 seconds.
The Australian Athletics Tour now moves to Adelaide (SA) on Saturday 21 February.
