The Victorian Road Relay Championships were held at the iconic Sandown Raceway over the weekend, where team members were required to run two laps of the racing circuit to make up each 6.2km leg.
With the release of the clubs new competition uniform, what better way to advertise this then with strong performances from all its members.
Even on a cold wintery day, the woman of Doncaster AC managed to fill 4 Open divisional teams as well as have a strong representation in the Junior ranks which managed to finish third overall in the U/20 age group.
Great runs from Kirsten Walburg, Katie Gamble and Charlotte Bassett (who had the fastest individual time of the age group), ensured their podium finish.
Top results from the Open Woman’s category included a 3rd place finish in Division 4 as well as a 1st place finish in Division 2, ahead of Premiership leaders Glenhuntly; with Bronte Gange running a fantastic first leg in 22:15 to put the team over a minute ahead.
In the Open Men’s division, Hirotaka Tanimoto and Ben Ashkettle put the team in a commanding position with Ben running one of the fastest times of the day . The team went on to finish 2nd overall, extending their lead over Diamond Valley AC in the Premiership standings.
The next round of the XCR season will be held in a fortnights time at Albert Park for the fast and flat 10km individual Championships.
